Today, November 15, is National Philanthropy Day - a day that we celebrate the warmth and impact that generosity has in our community and in achieving positive societal change.
“Philanthropy” comes from the Greek ‘Philanthropia’ and recognizes ‘love of humankind.’ In the original definition, philanthropy was not about money - that's a modern construct. Rather, it concerned ways to lift up and to care for others.
Today, the definition of philanthropy honors multiple forms of generosity. Whether you are moved and motivated to give of your financial resources, of your time, through your purchasing patterns, by advocating, or by volunteering your skills and expertise —there is a pathway for each of us to express our purpose, to activate our love of others and to make an IMPACT through sharing our own gifts and resources.

Proceeds from our First Commonwealth Double Your IMPACT Days will support IMPACT's 'Just In Time' Closet. The 'Just in Time' Closet is an intentionally designed space at IMPACT headquarters for female participants to 'shop' for free for personal grooming items, clothing, and other necessities that most take for granted. The 'Just in Time’ Closet supports women who are enrolled in empowerment programs at IMPACT, but also their children. The items they receive, with help from trained IMPACT staff, boost their confidence and remove barriers to their success. This is IMPACT's mission in action.
